Other Headers

Jaredigital features a really minimal header, who's true highlight is the robot and the grid background. The grid, to me, symbolizes his love of design and the robot his love for all things technology.

Dots for Tots uses an emboss type of header, it's very bold with big blocky yellow letters, and to have something almost.. industrial paired against a "natural" wooden background makes it stand out even more, the juxtaposition works for me!

Color Mod is another very simple header, which features just their name as well as their initials(logo), paired with a very complex color gradient of drops of color, which seems to be what their blog is about.

New Header

Although I do love the old Lobster Blogger font and find it completely appropriate for what I'm going for, I can't seem to find it / where to download it :( so, my new font is called Cheri, and I found it off DaFont.

For the actual header (kat's sweet tooth) I edited the image with a glow, a drop shadow, and an inset emboss. The background I used a weird beveled rectangle tool and I also set the background's transparency to 57. I'm glad that it didn't save itself as a solid when transferring to my actual blog >.<

image editing

This is White Part of an Oreo. She is a puppy I rescued from my aunt's house in Bakersfield and brought to the Bay Area to find her a loving home.

This Wapoo if she had been adopted by the Cheshire Cat ;)

This is a picture my husband took of us a few years back in Carmel. He spent a lot of time running back and forth across the rocks to get the shot just right. I adjusted the filters on this picture to make it more sillhouett-y, and I brightened the sun a little more.

This is the original image.

This is comic book guy. He's a good .png because, well, he's comic book guy. Also he doesn't have a large color scale, and so he looks good while keeping file "weight" down :p

This is an animated gif i created a long time ago during my counterstrike playing days. the .gif format is good for this type of image because it brings down the file size of a pretty detailed picture/series of pictures

this picture is from anontang, the photographs they take with these little japanese cardboard amazon.com.jp figures are really great, and I thought it a good choice for the border/tilt effect. It is also a picture best optimized as JPG, due to its many different colors and details.

Template hunting

  • Candies features a monochromatic scheme, with different hues of pink.

  • Explora features an analogous color scheme, with earthy tones of green, orange, and brown.

  • Diet Recipes features a pretty standard set of complementary colors - red and green, both very rich in saturation as well.

  • Fishing Time features a very saturated and playful theme.

  • Retro Car features an unsaturated blue, a very "cool" background, and an unsaturated yellow.

Blue color scheme

I chose this particular color scheme for the cool, calming tones. The entire scheme is monochromatic, to hopefully leave the reader with a simple reading experience.

Pink Color Scheme

I chose this color scheme because.. Pink is my favorite color >.<. The background is monochromatic, whereas the fonts fit in to a split complementary. The base color is pink, and there is both a tint and a shade of pink used. Both warm and cool colors are used in this template. Color is used to catch your eye to the main point of the page (which are my posts), I use a lighter color for my posting area because it is easier on the eyes to read. I also border the yellow font with blue so that there is reading ease. The different shades of pink create a theme to my template, of warm femininity.

New template

I've chosen this template based on the great scenery and colors up top, as well as the nostaglia it produces for me. I really enjoy how the header is very bold and beautiful and yet the body / posts are so simple. Although, if I could figure out how to get rid of that little calendar that labels the post i would ;) it takes away from the "plain-ness" of the body, too ritzy in my opinion.
